Looking for a Mothers Day assembly? This PowerPoint introduces pupils to the meaning and traditions of Mother’s Day, also known as Mothering Sunday. It explains that the day is celebrated on the fourth Sunday of Lent and has historical roots in visiting the “mother church,” as well as the tradition of young servants being allowed home once a year with flowers and Simnel Cake for their families. The presentation shows how Mother’s Day is marked today—with cards, gifts, church flowers and expressions of thanks—and highlights similar celebrations around the world, including the U.S. holiday in May. It also includes poems and activities to help pupils appreciate and honour the love, care and hard work of mothers and caregivers. Overall, it supports teachers in delivering a warm, reflective assembly focused on gratitude and family.
