From a series of values assemblies based on 1 Corinthians 13. (attached + example of ppt)
1. On way in used displayed question: What is the best present you have seen given to someone else? Take responses. Discuss how children felt seeing siblings or family members receiving favourite gifts.
2. Use the 'Love Detectives' slide (using child friendly version of 1 Corinthians) to revise the different aspects of love. Challenge the children to guess which aspect of love you are covering today....
3. As a clue show the following short clip:
4. Take more guesses from the children. Hopefully the idea of 'jealousy' will be brought up.
5. Can the children think of a bible story which features someone being jealous of somebody else?
6. Retell the first part of the story of Joseph. Use video clips or tell it yourself. I used a range of different pictures easily sourced by doing a google image search. Rather than searching for a series of similar pics I like to use pictures from a range of styles and traditions as in the attached.
7. Reflection: Think of a time when you have been jealous of someone or something. 'Listen' to the feelings inside it causes. Ask for help to wash away these values and to put 'love in action' which gets rid of such negative feelings.
8. So What? (final prompt to put values in action): "If you are full of love you will do your best not to be jealous".
