Remembrance Day - Script 2
« on: January 28, 2013, 11:57:52 AM »
Theme:
Remembering the costly sacrifice made by men and women for the sake of freedom.

Plan:
1. Sketch

Perform the Cosmic Convenience sketch. (See additional materials)

2. Talk

You may not be aware of it, but each of us enjoys something incredibly special: our freedom. We live in relative peace and safety and are free to pursue life to its full. But we who live like this do so at great expense – not to us, but to other people: the men who fought for our freedom. Jesus said that greater love has no-one than they lay down their lives for their friends. They paid the ultimate price. That’s why it is so important that we remember them.

Earlier this year, Harry Patch, Britain’s last survivor of World War 1 passed away. There are fewer and fewer soldiers from World War 2 left alive. But this should not stop us taking the time to remember and be thankful for what they did for us. Nor should we forget the many servicemen and women involved in peacekeeping missions around the world today, putting their lives at risk everyday for the sake of freedom.

The memory of this costly sacrifice is something we need to cherish. Let’s not cheapen what they gave by forgetting them. Let’s take this time to remember and be thankful.
