Theme:
Sometimes we need to be prepared to take a risk in life - are we brave enough?
Plan:
1. Deal or no deal?
Preparation: 10 cards with assorted ‘prizes’ written on the back. The top prize is a big bar of tasty chocolate. The least prize is something disgusting – like a used toothbrush. Blu-tac 9 of the cards onto a white board in two columns, face down. Have the tenth in a sealed envelope. You will need to have these prizes with you, and some sweets for bargaining with.
[GAME] Invite a volunteer to play ‘Deal or no deal?’ Give them the envelope containing the card. Explain the range of prizes on offer. You may like to show the top and bottom prizes.
Run the game as per the show. The contestant chooses cards one by one from the white board revealing the value of the prize. Every now and again, the banker phones to offer a deal of lesser value than the top prize that they could win, but of more value than the lowest available prize. Will they keep playing in the hope of gaining more, or will they settle? If the student refuses all the deals, then they will be left with the contents of their envelope – for good or bad!
