Values Assembly - Love: Love Champions
« on: March 03, 2014, 08:36:30 AM »

This is the final assembly for 'love month' which has focused on 1 Corinthians 13 definition in a practical way. Although there are no videos here, I have included it as it is part of the series already posted.

1. Opening Question: Who is a love champion?

2. Discuss with the children how teachers make checks to see what they have learned. Suggest that, at the end of a very important value month, we need to check how much we have learned. Suggest that teachers use different sorts of assessment and we are going to try these out together.

3. "Summative Assessment": We are going to try a 'LOVE test'. Show a number of different speech bubbles with loving comments (or the opposite) which aspect of the love description do they link with? Are they examples of loving or not loving? (see attached presentation - ideas drawn from http://www.barnabasinschools.org.uk/love/ ).

4. Ongoing "formative" assessment: Ask children to bring up their 'Love Detective' record sheets (example attached). Look at how each class have found examples of love. Which aspects are easier? Which may need some further practice? Which class has found the most examples?

5. Individual assessment: Ask children to nominate other children to receive a special 'love champions' sticker for a good deed or other act of love.

6. Prayer/Reflection: Choose one aspect of our love description that you would like to develop. Hold the words in your head and ask for help to carry them out today, tomorrow and forever.

Ideas:

Tags for Friend
http://assemblytube.com/forum/tags/?tagid=194

Search
http://assemblytube.com/forum/search2/
add Friend in the box.
When you get the results, choose "show result summary". It brings up quite a lot of ideas.

I like this video.
Watson the dog stands by.
While the boy does a quick assessment of the puddle situation.

It's what friends are for.
Let your friends do their thing, not just your thing.

Best wishes.
