Everyone knows what jeans are.
But what about genes?
Genes are what make us different.
They are like a recipe for how we are made.

Sometimes people are born with genes that have a small mistake in them.
This can cause big problems for some people.
We call this a genetic disorder.

Scientists are trying to help people with genetic disorders, so that the problems are not so bad.
There is still a lot of work for scientists to do.
Maybe you would like to be a scientist, when you are older, helping cure these diseases.
