Teaching Point
In this assembly, students will learn how small acts of kindness can create positive change in their school community and in the world. They will understand that kindness is a choice that everyone can make every day, and that even small actions can have a powerful impact.
Topic Definition
Kindness is showing care, respect, and compassion toward others through our words and actions. It can be as simple as offering help, speaking kindly, or making someone feel included. Kindness builds trust, strengthens friendships, and makes our school a happier place for everyone.

Here is a story to illustrate the power of kindness:
There was once a Year 6 student named Maya who had just moved to a new school. On her first day, she felt nervous and alone. Everyone else seemed to have their own groups of friends, and she wasn’t sure where she belonged. At break time, Maya sat quietly on a bench, pretending to be busy with her lunch so no one would notice how left out she felt.
A boy named Daniel saw her sitting by herself. He remembered what it felt like to be new—he had joined the school the previous year and knew how hard it could be. Instead of walking past, Daniel made a choice. He walked over, smiled, and said, “Hi, I’m Daniel. Want to play football with us?”
Maya hesitated, but Daniel’s smile made her feel safe. She nodded and followed him to the field. When they arrived, Daniel introduced her to the others and made sure she felt included. By the end of break time, Maya wasn’t sitting alone anymore—she was laughing, running, and feeling like she belonged.
Over the next few weeks, Maya grew more confident. She started helping others, sharing equipment, and showing the same kindness that Daniel had shown her. Soon, she was known for being someone who made others feel welcome. Daniel’s small act of kindness had started a chain reaction, and the whole class became more supportive and caring because of it.
Guided Reflection
Ask students to think about a time when someone showed kindness to them. How did it make them feel?
Encourage them to name one small act of kindness they could offer today—something they can genuinely follow through on. Remind them that kindness is powerful, free, and something everyone can choose.
