How Does It Work?
Paper of all types, including the straw wrapper, are made up of millions of individual fibers. When the straw wrapper is wrapped around the straw, these fibers are stretched out. As you crinkle the straw, these fibers are bent, curled, and crushed. Then you add the water! The addition of water into the mix hydrates the fibers, causing them to swell and stiffen with water. While the water rushes into the fibers, they continue to straighten into their original form, creating an incredible worm!
